Sex, Sex, and Sex. Oh yeah, and fitness too.

Hello Everyone,
So yesterday evening I randomly posted a picture on my Google+ account that connected the fitness benefits to some more promiscuous benefits and sure enough it becomes my most liked and re-shared picture to date.  I guess it is true what they say, "Sex sells".  As a man of the people I felt it necessary to give the people what they want.  So I did some research of my own and found some studies that linked fitness and sexual prowess...this is what I found.
This is not going to be that graphic of an article but all the same, please do not read ahead unless you are of age or have consent from your parental units.

Having a little trouble in the bedroom?  Feeling a bit unsatisfied?  Simply feeling like there is more to be had at this point?  Sometimes life can bring forward some pretty tough questions but a lot of the time the answer is a lot easier than you think.  Regular exercise and a healthy diet can be that exact answer for so many reasons.
Exercise Improving your Sex Life
Obesity has a direct correlation to a decrease in sexual appetite and performance.  For males, the excess fat that gathers in your abdominal region is extremely metabolically active and one of the functions is to turn testosterone into estrogen which decreases the males sex drive.  On the flip side, it has been proven that a well balanced exercise routine can help stabilize ones libido and testosterone levels.  Exercise done right increases the density and tone of your muscles.  Most everyone knows that at this point.  However, did you know that the density of your muscles can increase the intensity of your orgasms  because of the fact that your orgasms rely on the activity of multiple muscles functioning together?  True story.
On top of the physical benefits there are the mental benefits.  Lets all be honest here and agree that there is something extremely attractive about confidence.  No one wants to be out on a date with someone who continues to question themselves.  A high self-esteem and positive self image are both proponents of an increased quality of ones sex life.  In fact, Dr. Michael Young of the University of Arkansas did a study with 408 grad students (both male and female) and his study revealed that mental benefits of working out were just as powerful if not more powerful than the physical benefits when it came to sexual satisfaction.

Sex is Exercise?
You better friggin' believe it.  The "average" sex lasts around 30 minutes (I was told to make sure and specify that this is not just the actual act of intercourse but foreplay and all things involved) and depending on the effort put forth the normal couple will burn towards 50-100 calories per session.  Heart rate gets elevated, metabolic rate jumps up, stretching and strengthening muscles.  Don't these things seem oddly familiar to the benefits of the cardio workouts you do in the gym?  BINGO!  Think about the muscles you are constantly working.  If you fancy being on top then you will more or less feel some muscle strain on your legs and arms.  More feel like being on bottom?  Wait to feel the burn in your core and glutes.

Is sex a substitute for exercise?  Well I would not go throw away that yoga mat and cancel your gym membership quite yet.  My point I am trying to make in this article is that they are all intertwined and related.  Exercise can improve your sex life; Regular sex can improve your quality of life, and that is what my entire blog is about.  Finding ways to improve the quality of your life.
Until Next time...
